On Monday, March 7, at approximately 6 p.m., Brick police and detectives responded to the Target on Route 70 in reference to shoplifting. Detectives from the Street Crimes Unit responded, along with Detectives Tom Cooney and Mike Bennet, and Patrolmen Mike DeMaio and Mark Catalina.

The suspects were still in the store at the time, police said. They were recognized as suspects from previous shoplifting incidents throughout the tri-state area. As the suspects wheeled out over $1000 worth of merchandise in a shopping cart without paying, officers stopped and arrested them, police said.

They were identified as the same four suspects who stole over $400 worth of merchandise from the same Target store on Feb. 2, police said.

Further investigation led to the discovery of thousands-of-dollars-worth of proceeds from other stores in various towns, including the Target stores in Manalapan and Howell, and the Kohls store in Howell, among others, police said. Merchandise from DSW and TJ Maxx also was among the evidence discovered by Detectives, they said.

David Jamaluddin, 21, of Brooklyn, Eduard Kagalovsky, 19, of Brooklyn, Margarite Peconio, 19, of Queens and a juvenile all were charged with two counts of shoplifting.

Jamaluddin, Kagalovsky and Peconio were released on summonses, and the juvenile was turned over to their guardian.

An investigation is ongoing.
